Fully custom event design and promotion for Asiafest

Asiafest, held in the vibrant cultural landmark Rymill Park, was a large-scale celebration that transformed the heart of the city into a sprawling hawker-style marketplace. Tasked with creating design assets for the festival’s digital and physical identity, I led a comprehensive event experience designed to bridge the gap between traditional Asian heritage and a contemporary Australian festival audience. The goal was to create a cohesive, high-energy visual language that functioned as effectively toward promoting the event and how the event was to be experienced by its guests.
The scope of this project touched every facet of the attendee experience. I developed a new, high-performance website focused on seamless navigation and ticket conversion, alongside a full suite of physical collateral including street posters, event signage, and custom stationery. To ensure the brand was truly mobile, I designed high-impact vehicle graphics and a strategic social media kit that maintained a "loud yet polished" aesthetic across all platforms. From the merchandise in the stalls to the wayfinding signs in the park, every element was crafted to build a unified and immersive atmosphere.
Beyond the design and strategy, I served as the lead photographer for the festival, capturing the raw, candid energy that defines the Asiafest culture. My focus was on documenting the "in-between" moments; the steam rising from a street food stall, the motion of a traditional dance, and the vibrant glow of the evening lanterns. By combining strategic brand management with authentic, high-contrast imagery, we successfully built a lasting digital archive that reflects the pulse and scale of this premier cultural event.
Aligning visual identity with immersive experience
The primary challenge was to capture the sprawling, high-energy atmosphere of a street festival and translate it into a cohesive, high-end brand experience. My objective was to synthesize these diverse physical and digital touchpoints into a unified event ecosystem that didn't just promote the festival, but actually amplified its cultural impact.

Amplifying culture
Asiafest demanded visual design that felt as vibrant and raw as the event itself, while maintaining the professional polish required for large-scale application. My approach was to translate the raw, sensory energy of the festival into a sophisticated and scalable visual language. By developing a unified creative framework with custom fonts and colourful imagery, I ensured that the festival’s high-energy atmosphere remained consistent across every physical and digital interaction, as well as capturing the essence of the festival and festival-goers.

Elevating the cultural narrative
By unifying the digital and physical landscapes, the brand and event design successfully captured the pulse of Asiafest, transforming a local street festival into a premier cultural destination. The high-performance web presence and immersive on-site graphics didn't just drive attendance; they built a lasting digital archive and a professional brand authority that resonated long after the lanterns were packed away.
